flausen – young artists in residence – what we want
“flausen+” provides young, professional artists a laboratory incubator to explore and test their practice for a set period of time, free of results oriented performance. Artists can apply for a scholarship (see below).
At the launch of the flausen residency in 2011, Theatre Wrede received over 200 applications with more than 800 potential scholarship recipients from the across Germany and neighboring European countries. This demand clearly demonstrated the need for such a model for the field of the performing arts.
Our model is created for professional performing artists. Crossover projects of any kind are welcome: Whether actors, actors, choreographers, videographers, dancers, stage designers, visual artists, authors and installation artists, we are interested in all forms of the performing arts (research concerning children and youth theater is especially desirable). In addition to imagination, risk and crossing of borders, special attention is paid to the work with artists from different cultural backgrounds and/ or that engages socially relevant thematic content.
