Nora Amin is an Egyptian performer, choreographer, theatre director and writer. She was a founding member of the Cairo Opera House Modern Dance Company (1993), leading actress at the Hanager Arts Centre/Cairo Opera House (1994-2003), and is currently the artistic director of Lamusica Independent Theatre Group which she founded in 2000, and where she directed, choreographed and produced 37 productions of theatre, dance and music. She is the founder of the nation-wide „Egyptian Project for Theatre of the Oppressed“ and its Arab network. Author of „Weiblichkeit in Aufbruch“ (MSB MAtthes & Seitz) where she analyses the transgressions of female physicality in the public sphere and rape as a political weapon. She was the first Arabic Valeska-Gert guest professor for the summer semester 2018 (FU, DAAD, AdK) where she taught a course for MA dance science on Performing Trauma.
